Halfway Through 2025:
Celebrating the People at ELC Malaysia
As we reach the midpoint of 2025, it’s a moment to reflect not just on the progress we've made, but on the people who made it possible. From dedicated teachers and curious students to supportive families and passionate community members, it’s the collective effort of individuals that drives meaningful change. Their commitment, collaboration, and care have shaped the first half of this year—and they’ll continue to be the force behind all that’s to come.

A Chat with Julia Karataeva, Senior Teacher
Meet Julia Karataeva, a passionate and experienced English senior teacher whose journey has taken her across countries, cultures, and languages. With a love for learning and a heart for teaching, Julia brings energy, empathy, and inspiration to every classroom.
She speaks a few languages including - Italian, French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian and of course, English. So she understands firsthand the challenges in learning a new language at times. The best is always to enjoy the process at all times.
We’re excited to share her story and the incredible impact she’s made along the way.

Meet some of our Japanese Students at UOW Malaysia Campus

Sakura Fukaya, Japan
Since coming here, I’ve made some international friends and learned about different cultures through our conversations. I found out about ELC through my university. There was an exchange program, and the agent introduced me to ELC—that’s how I came to know about it. The teachers at ELC prepare many activities for us to practice English. The classes are sometimes challenging, but I learn a lot through them. After finishing my English classes, I will join an internship program at Berjaya University in Kuala Lumpur. I’m very excited! Initially, I was worried about staying here for a long time, but now I feel much better because I get to use English more often, improved and now I feel more comfortable speaking it.
Yusuke Inui, Japan
One of the things I like most about Malaysia is how affordable it is. I found out about ELC through my university. It was one of the options available in our study abroad program. All the teachers at ELC are kind and helpful. Whenever I don’t understand something, they help me. Sometimes I have difficulties following the lessons, but the teachers always explain things to me again, which I really appreciate.
While staying here, I went hiking at Broga Hill with my friend and saw a beautiful sunrise. It was a really special memory for me. I would like to travel to European countries and the USA. I find those countries very interesting, and I hope to use and improve my English while I'm there.

Our Students’ Activities
Doing something is always more fun than just watching
Our students took on movie-inspired challenges right here at our Bukit Bintang Campus. The pentathlon games were arranged for students to complete within a time frame —sparking clever thinking, requiring quick action, and bringing out the competitive spirit in everyone. From Flying Stone, Gonggi to Ddakji, our Friday afternoon was filled with roaring laughter and even a few tears.
Let nothing hold you back! ⏺️🔼⏹️
