A Chat with David Scott, Founder and Managing Director of ELC Australia
We had the pleasure of welcoming David Scott to our Bukit Bintang office for his annual visit to our school. As the founder and Managing Director of ELC Australia, David has been a guiding force in promoting the English language worldwide. In this interview, we revisit the origins of his vision for ELC, exploring the motivations that led him to establish the school 21 years ago. He shares his thoughts on how ELC has since evolved in programs and facilities, and use of technology. He also highlights the importance of integrating technology into lessons and updating curricula based on evolving needs. Additionally, we also discuss his aspirations for the future, as well as the continued growth and impact of ELC on students across the globe.

Celebrating The Lunar New Year at the Campus
Yee Sang: A Prosperous Tradition
Yee Sang, or "Prosperity Toss," is a must-have Chinese New Year dish in Malaysia and Singapore. This colorful salad, made with fresh vegetables, raw fish, and flavorful sauces, symbolizes prosperity and good fortune. Families and friends gather to toss the ingredients high while chanting auspicious phrases, believing a higher toss brings greater luck. More than just a dish, Yee Sang is a festive tradition that unites people in celebration and hope for a prosperous year ahead!

The Lion Dance: A Vibrant Tradition of Chinese New Year
The Lion Dance is a thrilling highlight of Chinese New Year, symbolizing good luck and prosperity. Performed by skilled dancers in elaborate lion costumes, it is accompanied by the rhythmic beats of drums, cymbals, and gongs. This lively performance, seen at temples, businesses, and homes, brings festive cheer while driving away negative energy, making it a cherished tradition for a prosperous year ahead.

Malaysia National Botanical Garden: A Green Sanctuary
The Malaysia National Botanical Garden, located in Shah Alam, is a lush haven showcasing the country’s rich biodiversity. Spanning over 90 hectares, this serene retreat features themed gardens, scenic walking trails, and a vast collection of tropical flora. Visitors can explore exotic plant species, admire stunning landscapes, and enjoy recreational activities in a peaceful natural setting. Our students had a fun time connecting with nature while hiking up hills, horseback riding, kayaking, and even zip-lining on the rainforest treetops.
