ELC eNewsletter – January 2026 Edition

Kicking off the year with a fresh start
As we step into a new year, welcoming it afresh brings a sense of renewal, opportunity, and optimism. It’s a chance to set new goals, embrace fresh challenges, and make the most of every learning experience. At ELC Malaysia, the start of the year is not just a calendar change, it’s an invitation for students, staff, and partners alike to grow, explore, and create memorable experiences together.
Fittingly, we warmly welcome our new students who have joined us in the January intake.

Malaysia, Truly Asia
Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) is Malaysia's national tourism campaign launched in January 2026, aiming to attract international visitors with a focus on sustainable tourism, diverse cultures, vibrant cities, natural beauty, and heritage, showcasing the "Truly Asia" experience through special events and initiatives across the country.
For our students, VM2026 means a more dynamic and enriching study experience in Malaysia. They can look forward to a lively campus environment, exciting cultural festivals and events, enhanced tourism infrastructure, and more opportunities to explore Malaysia’s unique traditions, food, and landscapes.

Getting ready for Chinese New Year
As Chinese New Year approaches, Chinese Malaysians begin preparing their homes and hearts for the festive season. Houses are cleaned and decorated with red lanterns and oranges to welcome good fortune, while families shop for new clothes, festive treats, and gifts. Traditional foods are carefully planned, and reunion dinners are eagerly anticipated, as loved ones come together to celebrate family, gratitude, and new beginnings in a joyful and vibrant atmosphere.
For students, Chinese New Year is a wonderful opportunity to experience Malaysia’s rich multicultural traditions firsthand. It’s a time to learn more about local customs, enjoy festive activities and celebrations, and connect with classmates, and the wider community. The spirit of fiery energy symbolizing ambition, action and social connection in the Year of the Horse also encourages students to set new goals, embrace challenges, and make the most of their learning journey ahead.

Our Students Activities
Chinatown
Our students had a great afternoon in Chinatown, bearing witness to all the busy preparation for the oncoming Chinese New Year. Red lanterns, red packages, festive food preparations, and music ablast, creating excitement in anticipation of the coming festivities.

Islamic Art Museum
In the rich multi-cultural society that is Malaysia, our students also had the opportunity to visit the Islamic Art Museum, which houses the largest collection of Islamic arts in Southeast Asia, with more than seven thousands artifacts from the Islamic world.
